Olivia Obrecht heading to JapanPosted by: nancym 2 years, 2 months ago
CoSA Visual Arts 2012 graduate Olivia Obrecht is graduating in May from Otis College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting.
According to recent and much-appreciated email communication from Olivia, "A few highlights were my senior studio's show 'On My Grid' in the Otis Bolsky Gallery, working as an artist's assistant doing the graphic design drawings for a piece in the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery's show 'Skin,' and participating in a live drawing show/event in Hollywood."
After graduation, Olivia will be moving to Japan and living there for at least a year, working as an assistant English teacher through the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) program. While there, Olivia is looking forward to teaching, learning the language and re-experiencing the culture. Olivia lived in Japan as a child, and was able to visit the country again in spring 2015 through Otis's study-abroad program.
During her senior year at Otis, Olivia worked in the Student Affairs office, and might consider pursuing a degree in school/college administration after returning from Japan. "However," says Olivia, "my primary goal for the future is always to work as a fine artist and illustrator."
Congratulations on your graduation and artistic accomplishments, Olivia, and best of luck in your bright future!Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
